Basingstoke Get active is a partnership of organisations who want to promote sport and physical activity across the whole Town.
Whether you are new to a sport, would like to become more active, are already active, the activities outlined in these webpages may provide something of interest to you
By working in partnership, Basingstoke Get Active intends to attract increased investment into sport and physical activity initiatives in the Town.
The work of Basingstoke Get Active and its Partners, focus on achieving the following seven key objectives:
- Encouraging more people to be physically active
- Increase sport and physical activity of target groups
- 50+
- Adults
- Low income groups
- People with additional needs
- Promote healthier lifestyles
- Increase and enhance young people's participation
- Develop community sport infrastructure
- Increase the number of people voluntary
- Commitment to sharing innovations
The purpose of establishing Basingstoke Get Active in Basingstoke and Deane is to provide a simplified, joined up approach for the delivery of sport and active recreation across the borough. The Government has set a national target to increase the number of people taking part in sport and active recreation in England by 1% annually. To achieve this target and other priorities there is a need for relevant partners to work more closely together, sharing effort and resources, to increase levels of participation.
